China government website announced on the 28th that the General Office of the State Council approved the establishment of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup China Organizing Committee, chaired by Gou Zhongwen, Director of the General Administration of Sports, Chen Jining, Mayor of Beijing, and Du Zhaocai, Deputy Director of the General Administration of Sports, as the executive chairman. The organizing committee will establish a secretariat, located in the Chinese Football Association, and each host city will set up a corresponding work organization and report it to the organizing committee for confirmation.
The 2023 AFC China Asian Cup will be held in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xi'an, Dalian, Qingdao, Xiamen and Suzhou from June to July 2023. At present, the preparations for the Asian Cup are progressing smoothly. The current focus is on the construction of professional football stadiums. Each city has basically completed the design of the stadiums. The AFC has confirmed the design of professional football stadiums in 9 of them, and the stadiums have gradually entered construction stage. On October 1, the AFC will review the functional design of the Beijing Workers’ Stadium for football competitions. According to AFC requirements, all venues will be completed in December 2022.
